Staggering 347 2015 Corvette C7 Z06 already experienced catastrophic LT4 engine failures

The problems with the +General Motors newest flagship are already well known, both quality control and mechanical (with the subsets of quality control and design flaw groups).  Although these problems are known, there is a group of people who refuse to acknowledge the facts.  These people of course are the lucky buyers of the newest flagship, propagating the sheep led to the slaughterhouse atttitude of "shit happens but it will not happen to me".

What is unknown, is the actual extend of the problem with the newest flagship since this is never a good selling point.

Nevertheless, here are the actual figures regarding LT4 equipped Corvette C7 Z06 catastrophic engine failures.

As of September 1, 2015, the number of total engine losses stood at 347 (a slightly over one month ago).

Of the 347 catastrophic failures, and this is an interesting one, only 229 were approved for replacement under drivetrain warranty.  One can only guess that the remaining number, those that were denied were due to the determination of warranty being void?  Perhaps aftermarket modifications?

Out of the approved 229 claims, 178 resulted in factory buy back action, with the remainder having the impressive LT4 powerplant replaced.

Considering slightly more than 6k newest flagships being produced, one could shrug these numbers off as insignificant (less than 6 percent of the total cars produced) but in reality, these numbers are staggering, considering a couple of factors: the car is in its FIRST production year and the numbers do not include the entire year, just 9 months.

These numbers are not readily disclosed to the general public (not at all as a matter of fact) but  they are out there, as demonstrated by the J.D. Power initial quality evaluation of the first year of  Stingray (2014).   This blog would like to credit the source of the numbers but it cannot due to the conditions under which this information was provided.  To put in an indirect way, this blog seems to have a few readers and leaks in GM do happen.  Too bad and oh so sad, Tadge....

    2. You never buy the first 3 years of corvette. the C6 had huge problems the first 3 years too with the LS7 z06 valve issues. I believe even the z06 09s may have been dropping valves too. I am hoping your very good informative BLOG wakes up the bean counters at GM and they fire Tadge dumb Ass and bring back Dave Hill.

    4. LS7 valvetrain problems were never resolved by GM outside of offering replacement as long as the warranty lasted.
