Ford readies 2017 Mustang SVT GT500 to bitch slap the newest Corvette C7 Z06 with 750 hp whip

If it was already not bad enough with Chrysler humiliating the newest Corvette C7 Z06 with the evil Hellcat twins and ability to haul the entire family while keeping up with the Z06 and apparently outrunning it (after Z06 drastically slows down due to heat soak and engine overheating), things are slated to get considerably worse.

The high power version of the latest version of the Mustang is already started, with GT350 being available shortly.  However, this car is a normally aspirated and track oriented design, more in line with the Camaro Z28 and base Stingray than Corvette Z06.

Predictably, knowing Ford and seeing horsepower wars all out in the open, things are about to change, with Corvette Z06 being shoved even further down the horsepower and performance ladder.  There is a new GT500 coming as a 2017 model and its power output happened to be about 100 hp more than what the latest and greatest Z06 can offer under very limited conditions.

Of course, Corvette kool aid drinkers and inbreeds will adamantly deny any direct comparison between the Mustang and the latest Corvette "flagship" but in real life, this new Mustang will be in direct comparison with the Z06, just like the Hellcat twins are already compared even though, at least on the surface, these cars are completely in a different league (at least this is how +General Motors would like to have public see it).

Without any doubt, the Ford will be cheaper and due to considerably more horsepower, a better bragging rights trophy than the Z06.  Will the +Tadge Juechter and his team respond with a better and more durable Z06 to stop the Ford horsepower assault?  This is actually very unlikely to happen due to emissions and fuel economy restrictions imposed on Z06, making it the end of the horsepower road (in a legal, corporate way) and certainly not a serious contender.

Perhaps, GM can come up with a super supercar with more horsepower, available through aftermarket tuners instead of Chevy dealers?  Now, here is an idea.  This way, GM does not have to worry about emissions, AFM and factory warranties?  Maybe Callaway can take over?  Pretty interesting to see the Corvette flagship experiencing so much bitch slapping from cars that are considerably cheaper but still, US made...
