Blown (not to be mistaken with supercharged) engines are a fact of life for the seventh generation of Corvette. Another fact of life is that +General Motors denies factory engine replacements for cars not just raced but even used in high performance driving education courses. This Singray buyer had his engine replacement claim rejected by GM back in September and his attorney is still wrestling GM and +Tadge Juechter and without solution on the horizon.
So how about the "most track capable Corvette ever?" Will GM honor blown engine claims on this car?
Blown LT4 engines are not a matter of if, just a matter of WHEN. Yes, granted, many buyers are already discarding the notion of taking their car to the track, simply to avoid humiliation and many will not even have an option to claim warranty problem due to the aftermarket tune but how about a few who will decide to take their stock cars on the track or to HPDE course?
The owner manual is as full of ambiguities as it is for the base car, this alone is a very unfortunate sign of things to come, with GM finding a way to refuse warranty claim even on a fully stock Z06.
Considering that the chances for better engine machining with LT4 is beyond slim this may be a hard lesson for the buyers, caught in the warranty shell game.
